February 1, 2018
Canada’s Minister of Transport Marc Garneau announced governmental intention to introduce travel visa with Blockchain-based authentication system. Project development is already underway and effected by Accenture company.
Along with Blockchain the visa is supposed to include biometric and cryptograhic technologies. As the project’s initiators say, new identification method will provide for ultimately fast and efficient airport procedures for passengers.
Using visa includes offering its users biometric, biographic and personal data with storage and security matters being ensured by the distributed registry technology.
“Innovation is key to enhancing global competitiveness, mobility and productivity. Leveraging new technological advancements can support risk-based approaches to public safety and security, making air travel more efficient while improving the travel experience”, Garneau noted.
