Florida Tax Collector Will Accept Cryptocurrency

County tax collector in Florida has entered into agreement with payment service BitPay and will be accepting cryptocurrency for its services.
Joel Greenberg, County Tax Collector in Seminole, has declared on Monday, county citizens will be able to pay with BTC and BCH for services involving driving license and ID cards, automobile plate numbers and real estate taxes.
The agency has already started accepting cryptocurrencies to simplify tax collection, reduce risks of fraud and ID data forging, increase transparency and accuracy of payments. Greenberg noted, they see no risks for the county caused by volatility of cryptocurrency prices.
“The aim of my tenure in office is to make our customer experience faster, smarter and more efficient, and to bring government services from the 18th century into the 21st century and one way is the addition of cryptocurrency to our payment options.”
Note that Arizona and Georgia used to propose bills earlier that would allow for citizens to pay taxes with cryptocurrencies. Yet the drafts were rejected.
