Facebook Considers Issuing Its Own Cryptocurrency
May 12, 2018
According to Cheddar citing anonymous source in the know, Facebook considers developing and issuing its own cryptocurrency as well as other ways to apply digital currencies and blockchain.
As the message says, Facebook plans adopting cryptocurrency for payments at its platform to provide unified payment means instead of numerous national currencies for its users. The initiative may produce immense impact over the whole industry as the social network with a trading platform Facebook Marketplace is used daily by more than 1.45 billion people.
Facebook also studies other ways for applying digital tokens and blockchain technology at the platform. Reportedly, a task group on blockchain and its applicability within the platform is headed by Facebook vice president David Marcus who joined the board of Coinbase rypto exchange in December last year.
Remember that late January the world’s largest social net banned any crypto and ICO ads.
